Water Main Project Key Points:

  • The board approved a bid of $1,187,327 from P.T. Ferro Construction Co., which was the lowest of 13 bidders and came in under budget.

  • The contract award is contingent on the village’s expected loan approval from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA).

The New Lenox Village Board on Monday, October 27, 2025, took a major step in its plan to upgrade aging infrastructure by awarding a nearly $1.2 million contract for water main replacements on the north side of the village.

The board approved a bid of $1,187,327 from P.T. Ferro Construction Co. to replace water mains on Cooper, Ash, and Wood Streets. The bid was the lowest of 13 submitted and was under the village’s budget for the project. The contract is contingent upon final loan approval from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA).

This work represents the first phase of a three-part initiative to systematically replace water infrastructure in the area. Public Works staff expressed confidence in P.T. Ferro, which has successfully completed projects for the village in the past.

In a related move, the board also approved a proposal for Christopher Burke Engineering to handle the design of the second phase of the project. This next stage will focus on replacing water mains on G-Lane, Hawthorne Lane, and Fur Lane, with construction anticipated to begin in the spring of 2027.
