Illinois Quick Hits: Community College reimbursement bill passed
(The Center Square) – A bill expanding state taxpayer-funded tuition assistance for students in community college is headed to Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s desk.
House Bill 5135 removes the maximum reimbursement rate per credit hour for community colleges.
The Illinois Senate approved the bill on Thursday.
STUDY: 80% OF IL ROAD CONDITIONS ARE ACCEPTABLE
A new report says Illinois drivers are facing a higher risk of pothole damage on road trips.
Grigor Law Injury & Car Accident Lawyers sourced data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics and found that 80.4% of Illinois’ road network meets acceptable conditions.
The Land of Lincoln ranked 20th on the study’s list of states with the worst roads, but Illinois fared better than Missouri, which was 16th worst, and Wisconsin at 14th worst.
Indiana was found to have the best roads in the country, with 97.4% of its network deemed to be in acceptable condition.
STATE OFFICIALS ENCOURAGE SAFE BOATING
As boating season gets underway, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and Illinois Conservation Police are urging people to wear life jackets when they are on the water and to only operate boats while sober.
IDNR offers free boating safety courses that review boating laws and regulations, as well as instruction on the safe and attentive operation of watercraft.
