Lincoln-Way East Powers Past Lincoln-Way Central, 10-1

The Lincoln-Way East varsity softball team delivered a commanding performance on Friday, defeating Lincoln-Way Central 10-1 in a conference matchup.

Lincoln-Way East took control early, putting two runs on the board in the first inning and breaking the game open with a four-run second. While the Lincoln-Way Central defense struggled to find its footing, the East offense remained relentless, adding three more runs in the fourth and one in the sixth to cruise to the victory.

Lincoln-Way Central’s lone run came courtesy of a solo home run by Jenna Lee in the fourth inning. Bridget Barz provided a bright spot for the Knights, going 3-for-3 at the plate and showing aggressiveness on the basepaths with two stolen bases, but the Central offense was unable to string enough hits together to overcome the early deficit.

On the defensive side, Lincoln-Way Central faced challenges throughout the afternoon, committing four errors that allowed the Lincoln-Way East hitters to capitalize on extra opportunities. The Knights utilized two pitchers in the effort, with Lauren Podkul and Jenna Lee sharing duties on the mound.
