Lee Leads Knights to 4-3 Victory Over Sandburg
The Lincoln-Way Central varsity softball team secured a hard-fought conference victory on Friday, holding off Sandburg for a 4-3 win.
The Knights’ offense struck early, pushing a run across in the second inning before a three-run outburst in the third gave them a 4-0 cushion. Jenna Lee was the catalyst for the Central attack, crushing a home run and driving in three of the team’s four runs.
Sandburg rallied in the fifth inning, plating three runs to narrow the deficit to 4-3. However, the Knights’ defense remained composed, blanking the visitors for the final two frames to preserve the narrow lead.
Jenna Lee was dominant on both sides of the ball, also going the distance in the circle. She tossed a complete game, allowing just two earned runs on six hits and striking out two batters to earn the win.
Hope Davis led the team with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate, while Carly Karales added a hit and a stolen base to bolster the Knights’ offensive effort. Lincoln-Way Central moves to 5-24 on the season with the victory.
