Homewood-Flossmoor Completes Series Sweep of Lincoln-Way Central
The Lincoln-Way Central varsity softball team faced another challenging road contest on Tuesday, falling 5-2 to Homewood-Flossmoor in the second game of their series.
Similar to the previous day’s matchup, Homewood-Flossmoor jumped ahead early, scoring three runs in the first inning. They continued to build momentum throughout the early frames, adding a single run in the second and another in the third to take a 5-0 lead.
Lincoln-Way Central’s offense fought to claw back, producing a run in the third and another in the fifth to tighten the score. However, they were unable to overcome the early deficit against Homewood-Flossmoor pitcher I. Thurman, who was dominant in the circle, striking out 13 batters over seven innings of work.
Despite the loss, the Knights’ lineup maintained a competitive spirit, recording five hits throughout the afternoon.
Lincoln-Way Central now sits at 5-24 on the season. The team will look to make adjustments and capitalize on scoring opportunities as they shift their focus toward the final stretch of the conference schedule.
