New Lenox School District 122 Meeting | March 19, 2026

Article Summary: The Board of Education authorized a massive technology purchase, allocating over $1 million to refresh the district’s aging fleet of student iPads and protective cases for students in grades 4-8.

iPad Purchase Key Points:

  • The district will purchase 2,100 new 128GB Apple iPads and Logitech Rugged Combo 4 Touch Cases.

  • The total cost for the Fiscal Year 2026 portion of the technology refresh is $1,001,400.

  • The district will also acquire 60 charging carts to store the devices in primary grade classrooms.

The New Lenox School District 122 Board of Education on Thursday, March 19, 2026, unanimously approved a $1,001,400 technology expenditure to replace the district’s aging fleet of student iPads.

According to a memorandum from Director of Technology Andy White, the current fleet of student iPads is four years old and requires replacement to ensure devices remain current and functional for daily coursework. The district historically replaces half of its iPad fleet every two years.

“The technology budgets for FY26 (

1.025M)andFY27(

425K) include monies to upgrade these devices for our 4-8 grade students,” White explained to the Board. “iPads have decreased in price, and so are quoted as less than the budget amount.”

The approved purchase includes 2,100 Apple iPad Wi-Fi 128GB devices at a unit cost of $324.00, totaling $680,400. To protect the investment, the district is also purchasing 2,100 Logitech Rugged Combo 4 Touch Cases with integrated keyboards at $109.95 each, totaling $230,895. The quote from Apple Inc. (Quote ID: 2213978588) totaled $911,295.

Because the final cost came in under the initial budget projection, White noted that the remaining funds will be utilized to purchase 60 charging cart solutions for $90,000 from CDWG. These carts will be used in the primary grades, where younger students keep their iPads secured in the classroom rather than taking them home in the evenings for homework.

The Board approved the purchase 6-0 as part of the consent agenda.
