New Lenox Community Park District Board of Commissioners Meeting | March 18, 2026

The New Lenox Community Park District Board of Commissioners managed a diverse agenda during its regular meeting on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, focusing on facility upgrades, sweeping ADA audits, and the upcoming launch of a public referendum survey. The Board also celebrated a 9% year-over-year increase in program registration and the hiring of two new full-time staff members. Commissioners Kraemer and Fischer were absent from the proceedings.

Business Services Audit: Director of Business Services Jason Braglia reported a successful transition to the district’s new audit group, Lauterbach & Amen. Following an initial meeting to review the year’s responsibilities, Braglia noted the new firm is “a little more modern,” meaning the vast majority of required documentation will be transmitted electronically rather than printed.

Staff Promotions and Hires: Commissioner Ott announced the addition of two full-time staff members to the district. Kelly Matson has been officially promoted from Recreation Supervisor to Deputy Director of Recreation. Additionally, Alan Hoogstraat has been hired as the Assistant Director of Golf Course Maintenance.

Athletic Association Meetings: Commissioner Larson reported that the district has been holding essential coordination meetings with local athletic associations ahead of the spring seasons. Meetings were held with the Mustang’s football program on March 17 and the baseball association on March 18. A meeting with the soccer association is scheduled for March 24.

Fleet Safety Checks: The district’s maintenance fleet is fully prepared for the spring season. Larson reported that all vehicles successfully passed their 6-month safety lane checks. Maintenance staff painted and added new lumber to multiple trailers, and completed all equipment servicing. Additionally, Rhino liner was applied to the beds of Truck 1 and Truck 7 to extend their operational lifespans.

Community Events: President Schulz read announcements for several upcoming community events. The New Lenox Friends of the Park Disc Golf Ace Race (Ages 6 & Older) will be held on April 18, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Haines Wayside Disc Golf Course. The New Lenox Lions Club will also host a Free Spaghetti Dinner for Seniors on Sunday, April 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Lions Community Center.
