The Lincoln-Way Central varsity softball team delivered a commanding performance on Wednesday, cruising to a 13-0 victory over Stagg in a conference matchup. The Knights’ offense was firing on all cylinders, racking up 13 hits while their pitching staff stifled the Stagg lineup to secure the shutout win.

Lincoln-Way Central wasted no time establishing control, plating three runs in the first inning and adding another three in the second to build an early cushion. The Knights broke the game open in the fourth inning with a massive six-run outburst, followed by a final run in the fifth to seal the result via mercy rule.

Audrey Hennings led the offensive charge for the Knights, going 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored and a double. Jenna Lee was equally impressive, finishing 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a pair of doubles, while L. McLaughlin added two hits and two RBIs to the winning effort.

The Knights’ defensive effort was flawless, committing no errors and holding Stagg to just two hits throughout the five-inning contest. On the mound, the pitching trio of Jenna Lee, Lauren Podkul, and Madelyn Lanigan combined for a dominant performance. Lee earned the win, working three innings and striking out four, while Podkul and Lanigan combined for another four strikeouts in two innings of work.

The win brings Lincoln-Way Central’s record to 25-26 on the season.
