Illinois Quick Hits: Pritzker issues order to ban state workers from insider trading

(The Center Square) – Gov. J.B. Pritzker has issued an executive order he says will bolster state laws to prevent insider trading amid the rapid growth of online prediction markets and event-based gambling contracts.

The order prohibits state employees from using nonpublic information to participate or assist any person in prediction markets and event-based contracts.

REPORT: 6TH CPS EMPLOYEE CHARGED WITH ASSAULTING STUDENTS

A Chicago Public Schools teacher is accused of beating and choking a 12-year-old student inside a South Side classroom, making her at least the sixth CPS employee charged this school year with physically or sexually assaulting students.

CWB Chicago reports that Alayne Pierce-Collins, 37, faces felony counts of aggravated battery of a child causing great bodily harm and aggravated battery of a child by strangulation causing great bodily harm.

The allegations stem from an incident on December 12, 2025, at Pershing Magnet School.

IDPH RELEASES UPDATED SPORT FISH CONSUMPTION ADVISORIES

The Illinois Department of Public Health is recommending that residents consult its annual update of advisories related to the consumption of sport fish caught in Illinois waterways.

Fish are tested across the state for contaminants, and the results are used for guidelines on how often fish from various waterways can be eaten without posing a health risk.

IDPH says The majority of this year’s updates stem from the adoption of more stringent advisory guidelines for perfluorooctanesulfonic acid.
