New Lenox Village Board of Trustees Meeting | April 13, 2026

Article Summary: Advancing the next major phase of the Crossroads Sports Complex, the New Lenox Village Board authorized a $2.72 million architectural services agreement with Tria Architecture, Inc. The contract covers the design and construction observation for the highly anticipated massive indoor fieldhouse facility.

Fieldhouse Architecture Key Points:

  • Contract Award: Tria Architecture will provide design and construction observation services for a total cost of $2,726,850.

  • Facility Scope: The project includes the design of a 140,000-square-foot indoor fieldhouse and an addition to the facility’s maintenance building.

  • Financial Strategy: The architectural fees are being funded primarily by the interest earned off the Village’s initial financial offering for the complex.

The New Lenox Village Board on Monday, April 13, 2026, officially set the design phase in motion for the Crossroads Sports Complex’s indoor fieldhouse, unanimously approving a multi-million-dollar contract with Tria Architecture, Inc.

The Board passed a resolution authorizing an AIA B101-2017 Standard Form Agreement with the firm. The contract, valued at $2,726,850, tasks Tria Architecture with the comprehensive design and construction observation for the 140,000-square-foot fieldhouse, as well as an addition to the existing maintenance facility.

Village Administrator Kurt Carroll noted that the contract covers all standard architectural design elements, though Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineering will be contracted and handled separately.

Mayor Tim Baldermann highlighted a significant financial victory regarding the contract’s funding source.

“The total cost for design and construction observation for the addition to the maintenance and fieldhouse as well is $2,726,850,” Baldermann said. “The good news is the majority of this funding is being paid by the interest that we earned off the initial offering.”

The massive fieldhouse represents the cornerstone of the Village’s strategy to turn the Crossroads Sports Complex into a year-round regional destination for sports tourism. The resolution passed 6-0 following a motion by Trustee Keith Madsen and a second by Trustee Lindsay Scalise.
