Four Home Runs Power Glenwood Past Lincoln-Way Central 15-5

The Glenwood varsity softball team put on an absolute offensive clinic on Saturday, hammering four home runs and racking up 18 hits to secure a dominant 15-5 non-conference road victory over Lincoln-Way Central.

The visiting Titans established their dominance early, plating four runs in the top of the first inning to take immediate control of the contest. Their relentless lineup forced Lincoln-Way Central into an uphill battle from the opening pitch, scoring in five of the seven innings.

Junior Hope Gilmore was virtually unstoppable at the plate for Glenwood. Gilmore finished a perfect 4-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored, and three RBIs. Freshman Jemma Lamb was equally destructive, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a team-high four RBIs.

The Titans’ power surge extended throughout the lineup. Senior Ryleigh Kiel, junior Sydney Feld, and junior Gracyn Lewis each launched home runs to keep the pressure firmly on the Lincoln-Way Central pitching staff.

In the circle, junior Alyvia Streb earned the complete-game victory for Glenwood. Streb tossed all seven innings, allowing five runs on six hits while striking out an impressive 10 batters and navigating around five walks.

Lincoln-Way Central struggled to contain the Glenwood offense, utilizing three different pitchers—freshman Hope Davis, sophomore Madelyn Lanigan, and junior Jenna Lee—throughout the afternoon. None of the three were able to record a strikeout against the potent Titans lineup.

The Knights’ offense was largely held in check by Streb, save for a brief but explosive rally in the bottom of the third inning. Trailing 9-0, Lincoln-Way Central suddenly came alive, plating five runs in the frame to cut the deficit to 9-5. Senior Annelysia Reina provided the massive spark, launching a grand slam—her lone hit of the game—to clear the bases. Freshman Hope Davis also enjoyed a strong afternoon in the box, going 3-for-4 with a run scored.

However, Glenwood immediately answered the bell. The Titans responded with a four-run surge of their own in the top of the fourth to re-establish a comfortable 13-5 advantage. They tacked on two final insurance runs in the seventh inning to complete the 15-5 victory.
