Karales’ Six RBIs, Lee’s Two Homers Power Lincoln-Way Central to 15-2 Tournament Rout of Joliet Catholic

JOLIET, Ill. — The Lincoln-Way Central varsity softball team unleashed a staggering offensive assault on Tuesday afternoon, overwhelming host Joliet Catholic 15-2 in a tournament matchup shortened to five innings.

The Knights’ lineup was virtually unstoppable from the first pitch, hammering out 14 hits—including four doubles and three home runs—to put the game far out of reach.

Senior Carly Karales was the undisputed engine of the Lincoln-Way Central offense, delivering a dominant 3-for-4 performance at the plate. Karales crushed a home run, roped a double, scored twice, and finished with a game-high six RBIs to continuously punish the Joliet Catholic pitching staff.

Junior Jenna Lee was equally spectacular, showcasing elite power with a multi-homer performance. Lee blasted two home runs in her three at-bats, driving in three runs and scoring twice. When she wasn’t terrorizing Joliet Catholic at the plate, Lee was busy securing the victory in the circle. The junior dual-threat pitched three solid innings to earn the win, scattering four hits and allowing just two earned runs while striking out one.

The offensive highlights for the Knights extended deep into the lineup. Senior Annelysia Reina continued her stellar season with a 2-for-3 showing, lacing a pair of doubles and driving in two runs. Freshman Hope Davis set the table perfectly at the top of the order, going 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and a team-high three runs scored. Junior Mia Degliomini added a perfect 2-for-2 day with a walk, while sophomore Audrey Hennings chipped in with two hits and two runs scored.

Joliet Catholic found some offensive rhythm against the Lincoln-Way Central pitching staff, tallying seven hits as a team, but they could not string together enough consecutive baserunners to keep pace with the Knights’ massive run production. Lexi Rezzardi, Callan Kinsella, and Addy Rizzatto provided the bright spots for the hosts, each recording a pair of hits in three at-bats. Rizzatto was active on the basepaths with two stolen bases, and Kinsella added another, but it was not enough to spark a sustained rally.

Senior Lauren Podkul slammed the door for Lincoln-Way Central, tossing two scoreless innings of relief. Podkul allowed just one hit and struck out two batters to cleanly preserve the 15-2 run-rule victory.
