New Lenox Village Board of Trustees Meeting | March 23, 2026

Article Summary: The New Lenox Village Board approved aesthetic and operational upgrades for the Crossroads Sports Complex, authorizing new wayfinding and promotional signage. The Board also granted a temporary land-use request for a construction developer operating in the Cherry Hill Business Park.

Crossroads Signage & Zoning Key Points:

  • Wayfinding Signage: A $1,500 contract with Integrity Signs will provide wayfinding signage in the complex’s beer garden and food service lanes to improve customer efficiency.

  • Promotional Signage: Additional Integrity Signs will be installed on scoreboards and concession stands to promote local New Lenox businesses and the KidsWork Children’s Museum.

  • Temporary Storage Use: Northern Builders was granted a five-year temporary use permit to construct a 30×48 foot storage building at 2125 West Haven Avenue to support ongoing construction at Cherry Hill Business Park.

The New Lenox Village Board on Monday, March 23, 2026, unanimously approved commercial signage upgrades designed to streamline operations and boost local tourism at the Crossroads Sports Complex, while also facilitating a temporary zoning request for a local industrial developer.

To improve the visitor experience at the sports facility, the Board approved a $1,500 proposal from Integrity Signs to install additional wayfinding signage. Crossroads General Manager Scott Brost explained that the signs will be placed in the beer garden to help guests more easily identify food service lanes, thereby improving the efficiency of the food and beverage operation.

The Board also approved a second proposal with Integrity Signs for promotional marketing. Community Engagement Director Beth Alderson reported the new signage will actively drive tournament visitors to local New Lenox businesses and the KidsWork Children’s Museum. The promotional marketing will feature two scoreboard signs located near the playground on fields five and six, along with wall-mounted signage situated at each concession stand window.

In a separate zoning matter, the Board approved a temporary use application for Mark Fordon of Northern Builders.

Community Development Director Robin Ellis reported that the developer needs to relocate an existing storage building currently situated on Spencer Road, which is used for construction equipment for the overall Cherry Hill Business Park.

The Board authorized Northern Builders to construct a 30×48 foot storage building on a narrow parcel located at 2125 West Haven Avenue. Ellis noted the building complies with all standard setbacks for the I-1 zoning district and will be accessed via a driveway extension. Because temporary uses cannot be approved solely by staff, the Zoning Board of Appeals previously reviewed the request and recommended approval for a five-year period. If Northern Builders requires the building beyond that timeframe, they must reapply through the Village process.

Both the signage proposals and the temporary use request passed via 7-0 roll call votes.
