The New Lenox Community Park District Board of Commissioners managed a concise agenda during its regular meeting on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, focusing on facility upgrades, spring construction timelines, and the launch of a new Referendum Task Force. The Board also celebrated a major credit rating upgrade and reviewed strong enrollment numbers across its athletic and recreational programming. Commissioner Larson was absent from the meeting.
Moody’s Credit Rating Upgrade: Commissioner Ott formally highlighted a major financial victory for the district, noting that Moody’s Ratings officially upgraded the park district from an A2 rating to an A1 rating. Ott called the upgrade “fantastic” and a testament to the strength of the district’s finances. He emphasized that the Business Services department continues to aggressively roll over excess funds and CDs to generate interest revenue, maximizing the value of the taxpayer’s dollar.
Turnkey Park Developments Pending: Executive Director Greg Lewis informed the Board of multiple impending residential developments approaching the village. Lewis noted that documents were included in the Board packet detailing two specific developments, explaining that the park district is heavily involved in these meetings and is “looking to receive a turnkey park” as a result of the residential expansions.
Haines Ice Rink Concludes Season: Director of Parks-Maintenance Ken Stephens reported that the seasonal Haines Ice Rink successfully operated for 22 days during the winter months before closing for the season.
Athletic Association Meetings: Stephens announced that spring coordination meetings will commence in March. The district will meet with the local Baseball, Softball, and Soccer associations to begin obtaining the required documents and insurance for the upcoming spring athletic seasons.

The Garden Party Fashion Show will be held on March 22, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the New Lenox VFW Post 9545, with tickets available for $30. Additionally, the Lions Club will host a Spaghetti Dinner on Sunday, April 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
