OSWEGO, Ill. — The Lincoln-Way Central varsity baseball team combined a dominant, two-hit pitching performance with an explosive late-inning offense to roll past Oswego East 12-1 in a non-conference road victory on Saturday.

Senior Luke Tingley led a potent Knights attack, finishing 3-for-5 with a pair of triples, three runs scored, and two RBIs to set the pace. Senior Conor McCabe was equally impressive, reaching base flawlessly in all four of his plate appearances. McCabe collected two hits—including a triple of his own—drew two walks, scored three times, and added a stolen base to keep the Oswego East defense off balance.

After two scoreless innings to open the contest, Lincoln-Way Central broke the deadlock with a three-run burst in the top of the third. The Knights extended their advantage with a pair of runs in the fifth inning to take a comfortable 5-0 lead.

Oswego East managed to scratch across its lone run of the game in the bottom of the sixth to make it 5-1, but the Knights responded emphatically. A massive seven-run explosion in the top of the seventh inning put the game completely out of reach.

Senior Austin Welch contributed a 2-for-3 performance with a pair of RBIs, while sophomore Des Gill also drove in two runs for the visitors. Senior David Schultz chipped in with an RBI double, and junior Tyler Arnold notched an RBI single in his lone at-bat as the Knights tallied 12 hits as a team.

On the mound, three Lincoln-Way Central pitchers combined to stifle the Oswego East lineup, racking up 13 strikeouts and allowing just two hits over seven innings.

Senior Owen Novak was nearly untouchable in relief, striking out seven batters over three hitless, scoreless innings. Junior Patrick Mayhugh also tossed two hitless frames, fanning three batters without issuing a walk. Senior Nolan Bartkus rounded out the dominant staff outing, striking out three over his two innings of work while yielding just two hits and one earned run.
