Illinois Quick Hits: North Chicago manufacturing expansion announced
(The Center Square) – State officials have announced that AbbVie will build two new pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturing facilities at its North Chicago location and create 300 new full-time jobs.
The deal follows an AbbVie expansion announced last year that included Economic Development for a Growing Economy tax credits from the state.
NU REPORT SUPPORTS CVI, GROUPS PRAISE PRITZKER
A report by the Government Alliance for Safe Communities indicates that communities receiving higher levels of taxpayer investment in community violence intervention experienced increased services, stronger program participation and the largest public safety gains.
The analysis was prepared by Northwestern University’s Center for Neighborhood Engaged Research and Science.
Last week, CVI groups released a statement saluting Gov. J.B. Pritzker for maintaining CVI funding in his budget proposal.
ECONOMIC ACTIVITY INDEX SUGGESTS GROWTH
The Chicago Fed National Activity Index increased to +0.18 in January from –0.21 in December, suggesting economic growth increased.
Production-related indicators contributed +0.19 to the CFNAI in January, up from –0.03 in December. The index is a weighted average of 85 indicators of growth in national economic activity.
