New Lenox Fire Protection District Meeting | Dec. 15, 2025

The New Lenox Fire Protection District Board of Trustees convened on Monday, December 15, 2025, to close out district business for the calendar year. In addition to major decisions regarding the Station 62 budget and the creation of a new Deputy Chief position, the Board handled routine financial reporting and received operational updates from administration.

Fire Chief Adam Riegel reported that ambulance billing revenue is up for the year, attributed to a move from the standard rate to the GEMT rate and an overall increase in call volume. The meeting concluded with the Board setting the schedule for the upcoming year; the next meeting is slated for Monday, January 19, 2026.

Recruitment Update:
Chief Riegel reported that the district is moving forward with testing and hiring new personnel. The district received 30 applications, with 22 candidates deemed eligible. Testing was scheduled for the Tuesday and Wednesday following the meeting.

Land Swap Discussion:
During his report, Chief Riegel noted that discussions began one year ago with the village regarding a potential land swap involving the land at the Station 5 location on Schoolhouse Road. The proposal includes a water tower and a training facility for the district.

Ambulance Remount and Equipment:
Deputy Chief Randolph reported that he will be meeting with a representative from Lifeline to obtain a budget number for the district’s next ambulance remount. The current truck is scheduled for a remount in June. Randolph also noted that crews have been very busy, tracking toward 6,000 calls for the year.

Financial Report:
The Treasurer’s Report for November 30, 2025, showed a beginning balance of $11,446,102.00 as of November 1. Total receipts were $420,279.00 against total disbursements of $1,102,786.00. The total ending cash balance was $10,763,595.00, with cash on deposit as of December 15 reported at $10,170,818.00.

2026 Meeting Schedule:
The Board unanimously voted to approve the Board of Trustees (BOT) meeting dates for the 2026 calendar year.
