During the public comment portion of the meeting, former New Lenox Township Supervisor Mike Hickey addressed the board to thank Hernandez for her dedication, specifically noting their time working together when he was Supervisor.
Hernandez reflected on her tenure, noting that her family moved to New Lenox in 1960. She stated that knowing the history of the township helped her become a better assessor.
