NEW LENOX – New residential housing options are on the horizon for New Lenox as the Village Board reviewed ordinances for two subdivisions during its meeting on Monday, Jan. 26, 2026.
Lakes Park Phase 2, located on the north side of Laraway Road at the village’s eastern border, is the final phase of that subdivision. Planning Manager Robin Ellis outlined the plan, which includes a mix of 43 single-family homes, 22 duplexes, and 40 townhomes. The developer updated building elevations for the duplexes to ensure variety in color schemes and design.
The board also heard the first reading for Spencer Meadows Phase 1, located on the south side of Laraway Road, west of Spencer Road. This development is designed to appeal to empty nesters, featuring 29 “cottage homes” on smaller lots, alongside two traditional single-family lots.
Both items were approved for a first reading. Staff is finalizing minor engineering and landscaping comments before the ordinances return for a final vote.
