Crews were dispatched to 2251 Berens Drive at 1:12 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered smoke conditions throughout the building and located a baling machine on fire in an isolated room.

According to district officials, the facility’s automatic sprinkler system had already activated prior to the crews’ arrival. The system successfully kept the fire in check, allowing firefighters to supplement the suppression efforts and further extinguish the flames.

While the incident remains ongoing, officials stated the scene is currently under control.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene and provided station coverage to ensure continued service to the community. These agencies included the Frankfort Fire Protection District and the Manhattan Fire Protection District.
