New Lenox Public Library District Board Meeting | Nov. 2025

The New Lenox Public Library District Board of Trustees met on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the library on Veterans Parkway. Board President Alex Vancina called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. All trustees were present.

The meeting was preceded by a Truth in Taxation hearing regarding the annual tax levy. During the regular session, the board approved the levy, accepted the annual financial audit, and passed numerous policy updates.

“Ghouls and Golf” Success:
Youth Services Manager Alissa Raschke-Janchenko reported that the recent “Ghouls & Golf” event was “incredibly successful.” The board received correspondence from a patron praising the event as a “wonderful community event” and thanking the staff for their hard work.

Café Renovation Update:
Executive Director Michelle Krooswyk reported that the café space remains under construction due to aesthetic issues involving the air curtain and HVAC configurations. However, Facilities Coordinator Nikki Orchard noted that café furniture has been delivered and installed, and the renovation punch list is wrapping up.

3D Printing Record:
Studio Manager John Morgan reported a monthly high for the library’s 3D printing service, with 117 requests and 542 items printed. The Studio also saw success with its “Ghost Hunting” program and a month-long DIY costume contest.

Cost-Saving Measure for Audiobooks:
Adult & Teen Services Manager Monica Waligorski announced that starting October 1, the library capped Hoopla audiobook costs at $2.84 per checkout, down from $3.99, in an effort to reign in expenses. The policy will be reassessed after six months.

Compensation Study Continues:
Director Krooswyk updated the board on a 14-month compensation study. Managers submitted job descriptions in October, and administration is currently analyzing the data to redefine organizational structure and re-benchmark positions.
