New Lenox School District 122 Board Meeting | Nov. 2025

The New Lenox School District 122 Board of Education met on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the Haven Administration Center. President Stephanie Peltzer called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. All board members were present.

The meeting focused heavily on financial sustainability and infrastructure, with the approval of the 2025 tax levy and the authorization of $8 million in bonds for future HVAC work. The board also reviewed academic data showing strong student performance compared to state averages.

Read-A-Thon Breaks Records:
Superintendent Dr. Lori Motsch announced that the recent PTO Read-A-Thon was the most successful in the district’s history. Students read a combined 446,441 minutes and raised $171,539. “She thanked the PTO, the staff, and students on this great success,” the minutes reflect.

Financial Health Update:
The Monthly Cash Flow Report indicates the district remains in a strong financial position with a 63% reserve-to-expense ratio. The district has maintained a budget surplus for 11 consecutive years. The FY26 operating budget currently projects a surplus of approximately $4.4 million.

Special Education Agreement:
The board approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Southwest Cook County Cooperative Association for Special Education (SWCCCASE). This agreement facilitates the placement of a New Lenox District 122 student into a specialized program for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing for the 2025-2026 school year.

Contract Renewal Schedule:
The board reviewed a tentative schedule for upcoming contract renewals for Fiscal Year 2026. Upcoming items for board consideration include HVAC preventative maintenance, milk services, and custodial services.

Board Governance:
The board approved a professional services agreement with the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB). Additionally, it was announced that the December 16, 2025, regular board meeting will be held at Liberty Jr. High at 6:00 p.m., featuring performances by the orchestra and choir.
