Village of New Lenox Meeting | Nov. 24, 2025

The New Lenox Village Board met on Monday, November 24, 2025, to handle a consent agenda of routine business and several zoning and ordinance matters. The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Scout Troop 44. Aside from the Mayor’s extensive comments on village finances and a new cybersecurity contract, the board moved through several operational items.

News Briefs:

Pete’s Market Sign Variance: The board approved the first read of an ordinance amendment regarding a monument sign for the New Lenox Retail Subdivision (Pete’s Market). The variance allows for a 50/50 ratio of static sign to electronic message center. It was noted that Cooper’s Hawk has decided not to be listed on the monument sign.

Mailbox Parking Ban: Trustees approved the first read of an ordinance amending the traffic code to prohibit parking in front of mailboxes. Mayor Baldermann noted this change was complaint-driven by a resident to ensure mail trucks can deliver mail efficiently.

Water System Assessment: The board approved a proposal from Christopher Burke Engineering for $21,900 to perform a required “Risk & Resilience Assessment” update for the village’s water system. This update is mandated by the EPA every five years.

Christmas in the Commons: Mayor Baldermann announced that the “Christmas in the Commons” festivities will begin on Saturday, December 6, with the official lighting of the Commons taking place around 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Tru Country Liquor Licenses: The board heard the first reading for Class D2 and Class BG liquor licenses for a new establishment, “Tru Country,” which officials indicated is targeting a spring opening.

Surf Internet Agreement: The board approved a right-of-way use agreement with Surf Internet. This 10-year agreement allows the provider to operate in a limited access area in the southwest part of the village, with future amendments required for expansion.
