Board President Alex Vanicna reminded attendees of the upcoming Friends of the Library fundraiser scheduled to take place at the New Lenox Portillo’s on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.
Staff Member Dawn Celebrates 20 Years:
Adult and Teen Services Manager Monica Waligorski reported that a staff member, identified as Dawn, celebrated her 20th anniversary working at the library on September 12.
Library’s Chess Club Praised by Trustee:
Trustee Erin Moncek, attending the meeting remotely, commented on the success of the library’s Chess Club. She noted that her son “loved it” and expressed her happiness that the library offers the program, as it is not always available at school.
Church Thanks Library for Donated Chairs:
The board received correspondence from Debbie Huggett, Senior Warden at the Church of St. John the Evangelist, thanking the library for a donation of chairs. Huggett wrote that the chairs were “the biggest hit of the day” at the church’s recent “Jubilation Sunday” celebration.
