NEW LENOX, IL – The New Lenox Fire Protection District Board of Trustees on Monday, October 27, 2025, postponed the planned award of construction bids for the Station 2 project, opting to schedule a special meeting for further review.
Fire Chief Adam Riegel reported that while construction bids for the project were submitted on time, they were not ready to be presented to the board for a vote. Riegel stated he, along with Trustee Popp and Deputy Chiefs Randolph and Vavra, had attended the bid opening.
In response, the board set a special meeting for Wednesday, November 12, at 11:00 a.m. in the conference room at Fire Station #1 to continue the discussion and potentially award the bids. Trustee Popp commented during the meeting that “the expansion project is going well; Chief is doing a great job.”
In other new business, the board unanimously approved the district’s annual tax levy. Accountant Brad O’Sullivan presented the tax levy determination, and a motion to accept it was made by Trustee Scanlan and seconded by Trustee Fischer.
Chief Riegel also noted that in addition to the Station 2 project, he has been working with staff on developing the 2026 district budget.
