Illinois quick hits: Tax Competitiveness Index released; IDOT career fair in Springfield
Tax Competitiveness Index released
The Tax Foundation’s annual State Tax Competitiveness Index ranks Illinois 38th out of 50.
The Land of Lincoln ranked in the bottom 10 for competitiveness in corporate tax, property tax and unemployment insurance tax.
States bordering Illinois all ranked in the top 25.
Emergency response platform transitions
The Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office says fire departments across the state are beginning the transition to the National Emergency Response Information System, a cloud-based platform aimed at modernizing how emergency incidents are reported and analyzed.
NERIS is replacing the 40-year-old National Fire Incident Reporting System to provide local agencies with data tools, location-based analytics, and flexible options for incident reporting.
