JOLIET, IL – A significant road improvement project is set to begin in the Homer Glen area next year after the Will County Public Works & Transportation Committee on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, approved a $10.4 million construction contract.

The committee unanimously confirmed the award to Joliet-based P.T. Ferro Construction Co., which submitted the lowest bid for the reconstruction and widening of Bell Road (County Highway 16) between 151st Street and Martingale Lane. The contract is for $10,400,058.22.

According to a project summary from the Will County Division of Transportation, the scope of work includes roadway widening and reconstruction with new pavement, installation of sidewalks and storm sewers, and modernization of traffic signals. The project will also involve building a soldier pile retaining wall, new street lighting, and pavement markings.
