Golf Course Operations Key Points:
-
July 2025 was the best month in the history of the golf course.
-
The record was set despite extreme heat and humidity during the month.
-
The driving range continues to perform strongly and is ahead of last year’s pace.
-
Officials are in talks to host a PGA Hope tournament, a program that helps veterans with PTSD.
The New Lenox Park District’s golf course posted its best month in history this July, officials announced on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
Commissioner Kraemer reported the record-breaking performance, noting the achievement was particularly impressive given that it occurred during “one of the hottest July’s on record.” He praised the staff for their “amazing job dealing with the heat and all the play.” The course’s driving range and gaming machines also had a great month, with revenue pacing ahead of last year.
Building on that success, Director of Golf Bob Schulz has been in contact with the PGA about bringing a new event to the course. The district is hoping to host a PGA Hope tournament, a program that introduces golf to military veterans as a means of coping with PTSD after their service.
Schulz noted there is currently only one such tournament in the Chicagoland area and hopes to add a south suburban location to the schedule. He aims to have more information on the potential event by early 2026.
