Knights Fall to Andrew in High-Scoring Conference Tilt

Spread the love

The Lincoln-Way Central varsity softball team dropped a hard-fought battle to Andrew on Wednesday, falling 13-6 in a game characterized by big innings and offensive bursts for both sides.

Andrew took an early lead, but the Knights countered with an explosive four-run third inning to take command of the game momentarily. However, Andrew responded with a decisive six-run surge in the fourth frame to retake the lead for good, later adding insurance runs in the fifth and seventh to pull away.

Despite the loss, the Knights’ offense showed plenty of life, tallying 10 hits on the day. Bridget Barz provided a major highlight, crushing a home run and driving in three runs, while Carly Karales also connected for a home run of her own. Annelysia Reina turned in a strong performance as well, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

On the mound, the Knights used a combination of Madelyn Lanigan, Lauren Podkul, and Jenna Lee. Lee provided the most stability, tossing three scoreless innings in relief while striking out two.

Lincoln-Way Central, now 5-24 on the season, will look to build on their offensive output as they continue their conference schedule.
